Happy New Year! We have had a very exciting beginning of 2012 at LWS HQ and we have PLENTY of news to give you.

First, January’s event! This month, we’ve got two great talks on Microframeworks and Data-driven documents.

JavaScript Microframeworks

In recent years there has been an upwards trend in the use of JavaScript microframeworks — small, single purpose libraries — Daniel Knell (@danielknell) will be giving an introduction into what they are, what they can do for you, and where to get started using them in your own web applications.

Dan is a freelance technical architect and full stack developer who has helped numerous companies in achieving their technical goals.

Data-driven Documents

d3.is is a new JavaScript library for graphing, visualization, and working with data on the web. It uses code not configuration and is designed for the modern web. This talk will get you started with some code, and show you some pretty, inspirational examples.

Justin Cormack (@justincormack) first used the web in black and white when it was mainly at cern.ch. he has been trying to make it look nicer ever since.

General release tickets will be available from Wednesday 18th January at 1pm from http://lwsjslibs.eventbrite.com

We’re moving to a new venue. We’re honoured to announce our new sponsor, Forward, the leading London based Digital Agency, which is not only hosting us in their amazing studios, but also kindly offering pizzas and beer! So a big thank you to Forward!

Next month…

Next month (13th February) we are hosting a Node.js event and we are planning to dedicate half of the evening to a “Node & Tell” session, when you will be able to showcase your projects.
If you’ve got something completed, or even if you’re only a few lines into your project, come and show it on the day to share your findings and to gather feedback from the community.

Send us an email to book your 5-10 minutes slot at organisers@londonwebstandards.org and tell us about your project.
